This initiative was developed in response to the recent tragedy that hit #beirut on 4th August, at 6:07 p.m. and destroyed half of the city.
Through "Time stopped" we aim to help collect donations to support the affected by the explosion families. As a token of appreciation to every person's generosity, they will receive this digital file of 11 artworks.
In #beirut, at least 220 heroes sacrificed their lives, there were 6000 wounded and 300,000 made homeless. Many charitable and reputable NGOs are working to help provide medical and food supplies as well as to rebuild homes. That is why Omar Traboulsi A.K.A. @thewrongwrist teamed up with Julien, Founder of Heritier, to create these hand drawn artworks of some of the watches we all admire, in collaboration with the brands to commemorate the sad event.
Named "Time stopped” this project took no less than 235 hours of work to create 11 artworks that were digitalised and saved into one downloadable file. The composition of the first drawing depicts the Lebanon cedar tree, a symbol of holiness, eternity and peace. A sentence in Arabic that reads "Rise from below the ruins” sits under the tree. Every other artwork illustrates a different watch with the time set at 6:07 p.m. – the time of the explosion in #beirut.
All proceeds from this fundraising will be channelled to Beit El Baraka who are making every effort to help severely impacted schools, businesses, hospitals and homes, and work to rebuild the destroyed neighborhoods. They have already set up a donation center and a free supermarket, where they offer people the choice in picking what food supplies they need. The money raised through the "Time stopped" initiative will help tremendously in their effort to bring life back to a city we all love.
