The brand #littlenothing – Paula Castro was born in April 2013, in Porto – Portugal. It’s me (Paula Castro) the only one worker. So, I do and I make everything.
My academic background is a Degree in Psychology. I worked twenty seven years as Consultant and as People Manager in industrial companies. In the Summer 2012 I decided to change my professional life.
Since ever, art was something that I was attracted to and I always liked to make “things”. In 2012 I went to school to learn how to make jewellery and after that I have been attending several courses and workshops with Lucy Saarnel, Benedick Fischer, Vivi Touloumidi, Gustave Paradiso, Eija Mustonen. Since the first lesson, I knew that the kind of jewels and objects I would make would be with nature raw elements.
I like to use with precious metal to stress the precious value of nature materials themselves. As well as to mix natural elements with silver and gold plated silver.
I try to be the most eco-efficient and sustainable as possible. Not only during the making processes as well as in the jewels packaging and shipping. Suppliers are almost local and Portuguese. There is no waste: The metal is always reused.
As my first love is Nature. So I work to valorize it, stress its importance and do not spoil it.
Features of my work are: organic, simple, natural, emotional, imperfect, asymmetric, irregular, poetic, individual, diverse, movement, handmade and one of a kind or very small series.
