Mercedes-Benz’s Fashion Commitment in Spring/Summer 2016 - “Hybrid by Nature”: Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele and Doutzen Kroes at the Mercedes-Benz Press Vernissage
Inside the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tent in Berlin, the French fashion editor and designer Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele and top model Doutzen Kroes presented the new Mercedes-Benz Fashion Campaign for the Spring /Summer of 2016. In the 20th year of the Stuttgart automaker’s Fashion Commitment, “Hybrid by Nature" focuses on one of the key topics of the future: sustainability. Before a stylised landscape, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele and Doutzen Kroes did a photo-shoot on the bonnet of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC plug-in hybrid with light-hearted playfulness, creating an image of the modern, inspiring and reflective luxury.
„Actually it’s all about nature, but still not enough people are thinking about environment protection. That’s why I instantly agreed with doing the new campaign for sustainability with that car”, said Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele. „After that I didn’t need much brainstorming. I saw Doutzen and the GLC, thought about it for a minute and just started.”
Doutzen Kroes added: “I grew up in a very eco-conscious family. For me it is normal, not to waste our resources and to think about consequences of my actions. The shoot with Carlyne was an interesting experience and so much fun, even though I was hanging in a trapeze all day. Hearing “Hybrid”, one doesn’t usually think about glamour and luxury, but Mercedes-Benz changed that now.”
"Sustainability is one of the most important challenges to modern-day society and an important topic in both the automotive and fashion industries", says host Wolfgang Schattling, Director of Motorsport Marketing Communication & Branded Entertainment of Mercedes-Benz. “That is why we placed our international fashion campaign under the motto ‘Hybrid by Nature’ with the beautiful and environmentally conscious Doutzen Kroes and presented our new Plug-In Hybrid with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 350 and 4MATIC, which can drive up to 34 km on battery power alone and thus emissions-free.“
In the future, sustainability will play a major role within the fashion activities of Mercedes-Benz. In September 2015, Livia Firth, Creative Director Eco-Age and Erdem Moralioglu, Founder ERDEM, will come together to launch his first Green Carpet Collection at an exclusive event during London Fashion Week sponsored by Mercedes-Benz. The collection will be produced using reused, surplus or sustainably certified materials, creating 12 looks that capture his signature style of versatile yet powerful femininity.
