The tale of a French Summer in Altea's new SS23

The heights surrounding the Bay of Cannes, the coastline jutting into the Mediterranean Sea, centuries-old trees adorning one of the pearls of the Côte d'Azur. Villa La Californie, residence of Pablo Picasso's summers, and a cult location for the artist's creativity, becomes the inspiration behind Altea's new Spring-Summer 2023 collection.

A tale linked to the period of the 1960s, a decade capable of combining in a stylish way a casual and comfortable attire with a more glamorous one.

The knitwear recalls the informal elegance of the cult movie Plein Soleil, with break effects constructed on the loom capable of enlivening classic designs such as navy stripes and fair isle jacquards. Lightweight cotton, combined with a palette in sun-kissed earth tones.

There is no lack of references to the classic, timeless style in the men's wardrobe. Tailored models and workwear are deconstructed and combined with new, light and fresh fibres such as linen, cotton poplin and lyocell in typical Mediterranean colours. The coolness of cobalt, the lively lavender of Provence flowers and the brick of the earth, for a unique and timeless style.

Research of materials together with careful craftsmanship continues. Linen, jacquard fabrics and Japanese nylon become canvases on which to decorate with oriental flavour prints, overdyes and the timeless tie dye.

Manual dyes characterise the collection for a sun-faded or paint-stained effect. Colours reminding of summer which, thanks to the uniqueness of the application, make each Altea model unique and different.
