Alpina’s latest AlpinerX Smart Outdoors limited edition dedicated to freeride

To celebrate the renewal of its #partnership with the Freeride World Tour for the fourth consecutive year in 2021, #alpina is proud to reveal an exclusive AlpinerX Smart Outdoors #limitededition delivered with a strap made of recycled material from Alpina’s advertising banner from the Freeride World Tour 2020.

Last November, #alpina renewed its #partnership with the Freeride World Tour in 2021 for the fourth year running. Sharing the same values and passion for adventure, #alpina and the Freeride World Tour have been working together since 2018, helping freeride athletes achieve their goal of mastering some of the most challenging lines the mountains have to offer.

As the official partner of the Freeride World Tour, #alpina is also directly supporting three Freeride World Tour competitors, namely the French athletes Juliette Willmann and Victor De Le Rue and the Italian Markus Eder. This year, the competition started in Andorra from February 19th to 26th, before continuing in Fieberbrunn, Austria and in Verbier, Switzerland.

Verbier Xtreme 25 Years Anniversary

The Verbier Xtreme has been at the peak of competitive skiing and snowboarding over the past 25 years. If the world hadn’t been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the year 2020 would have celebrated the 25th #anniversary of the event – which was cancelled unfortunately. Therefore, the freeride community will be celebrating this milestone in 2021, from March 20th to 28th.

Last year, to mark the occasion, #alpina had developed a safety package in #collaboration with the Freeride World Tour, including a Recco Helmet Rescue Reflector and a Black Diamond Guide BT Avalanche Beacon to accompany the AlpinerX Freeride World Tour 2020 #limitededition series of 25 pieces. Each of these timepieces is to be delivered in a dedicated gift box featuring a commemorative plate bearing the 25th #anniversary Xtreme Verbier logo and the limited-edition number X/25 inscription. What’s more, each watch is engraved with the limited-edition number from 1 to 25.

And the good news is: out of these 25 pieces, a few of them are still available for the freeride and watch collectors’ greatest pleasure!

ABOUT FREERIDE WORLD TOUR

The Freeride World Tour is an annually toured series of events in which the best freeskiers and snowboard freeriders compete for individual event wins, as well as the overall title of Freeride World Champion in their respective genders and disciplines. The events take place on what's commonly referred to as "backcountry", "big mountain" or "extreme" terrain - essentially ungroomed powder snow on dangerously steep, mountainous slopes.

The first event series under the Freeride World Tour moniker took place in 2008. Prior to that it was known as the Xtreme Verbier, originally a snowboard only contest launched in 1996 - with skiers also invited to compete in 2004. For the 2013 season, the Freeride World Tour merged with the Freeskiing World Tour and The North Face Masters of Snowboarding, combining all three tours under one unified global 5-star championship series.
