Roberta Verteramo @Cannes Yachting Festival 2019

On the occasion of the #cannesyachtingfestival, Roberta #verteramo will present some works that combine art and design, exploring the evocative power of matter. It is a consolidated dialogue between the artist and the world of the sea and of navigation which, starting from her personal passion, led her to create objects and works of art that have become an integral part of the boats offered by the biggest international shipyards .

Her works go beyond the rigid aesthetic taxonomy that separates visual arts from applied arts and, thanks to their expressive power, articulate a visual grammar that becomes narration: stories, suggestions, emotions are revealed through the profile of objects that become symbols and give life to an original story yet to be discovered.

Liquid emotions translate into matter through dense color overlays of contents that the resin absorbs and modulates. The light rests on the shiny, and then opaque, surfaces that characterize the linguistic autonomy of an artist who moves with ease between art and design. Her Jewel Paintings go beyond the two-dimensionality of the pictorial work to become a vertical tale in the three dimensions preserved by the resin: precious pieces of a composite history that today enrich the domestic perimeter of the most elegant yachts in the world. Miss Verteramo's artistic production also explores Sculpture with the Alchemic Jewel series: small installations forged in bronze and embellished with resin elements. Worked with authoritative grace, they explore the dense dialogue between the polished material and the raw expressive power of metal.

The alchemic experience with the material leads back to an ancestral desire to explore the sacred and sensual aspect of the materials, which we also find in the ad hoc proposals developed in collaboration with companies and design galleries. This is the case of Rhizoma, a table presented in London during Masterpiece; an upside-down sculpture in which the resin of the supporting surface reveals the presence of the bronze in the base, disclosing an almost primordial volume, guardian of a visual and tactile experience. The Selene mirror, also proposed at the PAD Paris Art + Design, becomes a privileged place of observation integrated with Nature and at the same time, a starting point for new visions: the perforated metal that surrounds the mirrored surface recreates the erosive action of the sea, influenced by the Moon.

To me creating means, first of all, experiencing the material and "feeling" where I can go, so that I can answer back with emotion.

Upcoming Events
Roberta #verteramo will be present with her works at the 59th Genoa Boat Show (19-24 September 2019) at the booth of #nautica publishing house in Rome and at the Monaco Yacht Show in the Principality of Monaco (25-28 September 2019), on one of the yachts presented by the Sanlorenzo shipyards.

The strength of Roberta Verteramo's artistic production lies in her great mastery over matter, an experience gained over the years as a restorer between contemporary art and design. After graduating from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin and a period at the Universitat Politècnica de València, Roberta #verteramo was first restorer of Design in Italy and founded the Laboratory of the Museo de La Triennale in Milan, collaborating with important international artists and designers. At the same time, she developed her own independent poetics which, starting in 2016, is expressed energetically in the design sector with works that, while outlining her original artistic vocation, succeed in dialoguing successfully with the current needs of the market. Today she lives between Turin and London and her works, present in important art collections all over the world, are exhibited at the 88gallery London and in the main international design fairs, such as Design Miami / Basel, PAD London and Paris, Masterpiece, Decorex London and TEFAF Maastricht. Her projects were selected by some of the most important brands including Visionnaire Home, Sanlorenzo Yacht, Minotti and Salvioni.
