Stuttgart/Milan/Beijing. #mercedesbenz is proud to present Chinese designer #angelchen at Milan #fashion Week and Italian #fashion designer #vivettaponti at #mercedesbenz China #fashion Week as part of the International Designer Exchange Program.

Vivetta was chosen from a shortlist of five Italian designers and #angelchen, from a shortlist of six Chinese designers, by a panel of judges including Xiao Xue, Chief Content Officer at Elle China, Freda Wang, Marketing Director, #mercedesbenz China, Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Giusi Ferré, Italian author and journalist and Karla Otto, Founder of Karla Otto Ltd. #mercedesbenz continues to honor its commitment to nurturing emerging and established designers through the brands International Designer Exchange Program which provides a unique opportunity to access key international markets.

Milan #fashion Week – Milano Moda Donna

Chinese designer #angelchen has been invited to present her eponymous brand’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection as part of the official Milano Moda Donna #fashion Week schedule. Angel’s show will be held on February 23, 5.00 pm at Cavallerizze. Educated at Central Saint Martins in London, the Shenzhen-born designer returned to China post-graduation and decided to launch her own label in 2015, in the wake of a hugely positive response to her 2014 graduate collection, entitled ‘Les Noces’ (the wedding). Citing John Galliano as her design hero, she has since established herself as ‘one to watch,’ appearing in Forbes’ first ‘30 under 30’ Asia list for 2016. Her aesthetic is unapologetically bold, an East-meets-West fusion of competing colours and textures fuelled by the Asian sub-cultures she seeks to reveal to the masses. Her work is stocked by key retailers such as Lane Crawford, Opening Ceremony and Urban Outfitters.

Angel Chen said, “I am excited to be given this opportunity by #mercedesbenz to present my collection on an iconic international #fashion platform that is Milan #fashion Week. I have always been inspired by both mass and niche cultures - with this opportunity, #mercedesbenz is bringing my brand’s free spirited aesthetics to the world, enabling me to reach and inspire a new audience, exchange ideas with other designers as well as, elevate my brand, giving it recognition from a global audience which will benefit my brand development.”

“For more than 20 years, we have been committed to the world of #fashion through promoting creative, young and talented #people who represent both quality and variety in the #fashion sector,’ says Michael Bock, Director Sport- & Lifestyle Marketing #mercedesbenz Cars. ‘Angel Chen exemplifies risk taking and innovation in her collections, and this approach echoes Mercedes-Benz’ own commitment to uncompromising style and progressive design.”

“The passion for excellence and innovation unites us with Mercedes- Benz, our historical sponsor. Supporting young brands means building the future of #fashion and is one of the pillars of the CNMI's strategy,’ affirms Carlo Capasa, President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana. ‘The #mercedesbenz project offers an important international visibility and an opportunity of networking and business for two emerging talents and opens a window on the future.’

Mercedes-Benz China #fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz China has invited Italian designer #vivettaponti to show at #mercedesbenz China #fashion Week, presenting her Autumn/Winter 2017 collection from her label Vivetta on the official calendar taking place March 25-31, 2017. She cut her teeth at Roberto Cavalli as an assistant designer before launching her namesake brand in Milan in 2009. Known for its playful, joie de vivre take on feminine dressing, Vivetta has established itself as an unconventional destination brand for cool women looking for a touch of quirk – including Alexa Chung, Anna Dello Russo and Chiara Ferragni. Furthermore, the vintage-inspired silhouettes which incorporate surrealist elements are all designed and made in Italy.

“I am flattered to be part of this project and I am thankful to the jury who chose me among so many talented designers. I look forward to showing my entire collection in China, a wonderful country that is growing so much and becoming so important for the #fashion market worldwide,” stated #vivettaponti.

“The objective of the #mercedesbenz International Designer Exchange Program is to cross-pollinate between nations and create a valuable platform for upcoming and established designers,’ says Michael Bock, Director Sport- & Lifestyle Marketing #mercedesbenz Cars. ‘Vivetta exudes talent with her attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship, and this design philosophy perfectly reflects the way we approach our creative process at #mercedesbenz.”

Mercedes-Benz China #fashion Week will take place between March 25 - 31, 2017 in Beijing. #mercedesbenz has been the title sponsor of the #fashion platform since 2011 and in this time, has supported the platform in its growth to be not only a top-rated platform for #fashion design, ready-to-wear, accessories, styling and other new designs and technologies in China, but also a world renowned platform for promoting brands, displaying originality and broadcasting #fashion trends.
